Four Great Days in McCall, Idaho

Every year there’s a core group of us that head down to McCall, Idaho to spend a few days snowboarding or skiing and bringing in the New Year. We rent a house or cabin and more people usually join us throughout the weekend. This year was the same and different people came and stayed throughout the long weekend. The house we rented was really big and had plenty of space for everyone to hang out and sleep. At any given night there was at least 9 of us there. It also had a hot tub which was really nice after spending the day on the mountain. Here are some photos from the weekend.

This pic is David, Ashley, Luc, Emily, Martin and I at the bottom of the lift about to take another run. It was snowing like crazy and pretty cold, but we were all very happy with the conditions. The groomed runs were soft and the powder in the trees was light, fluffy and deep :)

This is Em, Luc, & Ashley striking a pose mid-way down the mountain. This picture doesn’t capture how beautiful this scene looked as we were coming down the mountain. We had to stop and take it all in. The bright window there is actually the valley of New Meadows in the distance and its the snow reflecting the sun light. It looks like a bright cloud, but we could actually see the valley in that little window it was amazing. If you click on the pic, it gets larger and you can kind of see what I’m talking about.

This was sometime in the evening on Sunday. We were sitting around playing a game and drinking. We had good fun and enjoyed some late night chatter in the hot tub. It was too steamy to take any photos in there, so you’ll have to imagine that one for yourselves.

On new years eve, my previous post was some videos of the guys jumping off a ramp they made in the snow. Alexa and Aubrey came out for a minute to watch the fun. It was too cold to stay outside though. We found out the next day that it was -15 degrees that night. I image it was probably around 5 deg. when they were jumping.

We had a nice mellow fun night with about 10 of us around a table playing “asshole the card game.” We got silly drunk and had a lot of laughs. This was my table spot – Bud Light, Jameson Whiskey, and Aubrey’s monitor. The monitor has a lot of static and it drives Alexa crazy and it doesn’t bother me, so I was in charge.

Alexa and I posing as she was President and I was VP. Alexa looks like she’s drunk, but she seemed to only drink 1 1/2 bud lights the whole night, hmmm. I think she was cheating at the game if you ask me. I guess that’s a responsible mom for ya though, can’t give her too much crap.

We headed out on Tuesday morning and had some breakfast in a town called New Meadows, which is right outside McCall. It was yummy and much needed after the night we had. Our drive home was absolutely gorgeous with Blue Bird skies. I stopped along the highway and took some photos of New Meadows, my favorite valley. It’s amazing how different this valley looks in summer, winter, fog, snow, etc. It’s always so serene, calm, and majestic. Of course, pictures never capture what my eyes and body feel, but it’s all I can do to share it with you.

It was a wonderful few days with friends and nature. I drove Ashley’s car home with her riding shotgun and Casey in the back seat. We listened to some mellow tunes, drove up and over mountains and along the Salmon River. I was thankful for the dry roads, good music, great scenery, and bringing in 2008 with people I love.

Happy New Year to everyone!!
