Anthropomorphism & the Mirror

As defined by Webster Dictionary. Anthropomorphic means:
1. described or thought of as having a human form or human attributes
2. ascribing human characteristics to nonhuman things

The idea of anthropomorphic theory troubles me. On one hand I get it. I can assume an animal is feeling or thinking something that they are not based on how feel about that something, but I can’t help to think that it’s now also used as a way to keep people from acknowledging that animals are more aware than we have given them credit for the last few hundred years.

It’s so easy to continue doing what we are doing when things like, “well we don’t really know for SURE that they feel pain, or have emotions, or can think” are said. Belittling these beings experiences by saying we might be just attributing our own feelings onto what they are experiencing or not.

Beauty in the Breakdown

It’s been a ride of day, but I’m starting to see patterns when I feel rocked and not ok. When I put too much focus on my material world around me and not enough inner reflective time either through thought, meditation, or reading spiritual things I feel unsafe. The material world doesn’t actually make me feel safe and grounded and so when my energy is focused there I get thrown and even spiral a bit. I realize it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been super contemplative or have done any awakening practices. When I don’t do these things my world shifts into trying to put things into boxes and known spaces to try and give me the feeling of knowing and contentment, but it’s an illusion and eventually I feel lost and lonely. What I need is just the opposite. When I delve into the world of divinity, support and love, I sit in the unknown and feel curiously comfortable. When my energy is put there my material world falls into place with a lot less effort and a lot more joy.

I love this song by Frou Frou and it’s always a good reminder to let go and to remember that there is beauty in the breakdown.

Love Flare

Image above: Veil of Love –¬†How God sees us and wants us to see each other. Perfect love.

I may have mentioned it before but if not I’m taking part of a self-portrait project for a year. Each week there is a new theme hosted by NowYouWorkshops. I have loved taking pictures my whole life, but I’ve never been great at getting in front of the camera. As a commitment to myself and to the world to love myself more so I can shower others unconditionally, I’ve turned the camera on myself. I struggle with the ideas of vanity around this project but more and more I realize it is about acceptance and love. One frame at a time I continue to open to all of me and when I want to judge myself… for example…my not so pretty feet, I remind myself of how they keep me standing, having carried me so many miles, danced on stage for years as a child, endured being blistered and bruised, to name a few things. I come to appreciate what I have.

Namaste in Action

This image speaks all kinds of volume of love. I took it at a music festival that is family friendly to the max. This was a friend of a friend and her daughter. The little girl had been playing in the sand by a lake and was coming to say hello to her Mama. All I see is love in this image…pure unconditional love. I am grateful for this shot.
